Quick Heads Up

Posted in Blog / Rant on January 26th, 2011 by Conn

Just a quick post to make peeps aware that there are some bits of the site missing and things popping up. They are not finished, so please don’t worry if you click something and it doesn’t do what you want.

The good – You can now ‘Like’ and ‘Tweet’ my posts.
The bad – Skiing is hard on ice, we really need snow.
The ugly – The gallery is over there, but it’s not actually there.

That’s it really, looking forward to coming home now. Got things to be getting on with and chapters in my life to begin. Have got confirmation that I’ll be away again this year… Aus/NZ from March to July. Cheers Easy.

Off for a chill with some choons. <_>

Skiing in Méribel

Posted in Blog / Rant on January 25th, 2011 by Conn

First off, before I blog, I’ll have a little Rant.
Double-you Tea Eff is going on with the lack of upload capability on iPad/iPhone? You cannot upload a picture onto most websites from these devices. I’ve been trying now for about 20 mins and nothing. My usual workaround, that I blogged about previously, using a collection of apps isn’t playing ball tonight. Grrr.
For example, if I click upload picture on WordPress, usually you’d then select the file from your computer. Not with iPad, it’s just denied. Grey’d out. Eff Eff Ess. It cant be hard to allow this support, can it?

Anyway, so I am in the French Alps. Surrounded by snow. This place is gorgeous. Would like to post a pic of it but as mentioned earlier, no joy. I’ll sort it when i get back home.

I’m not that good at skiing in comparison to a lot of the guys here, but it is nice to be actually taught to ski. My previous attempts in Finland and Canada, saw me sliding down a hill not under much control. However, in the three days i have been skiing here, I feel I have come on a fair bit. Yesterday morning and this afternoon especially. Smashing up the red slopes, with a general good approach. Need to work out some niggles and bad habits that i have acquired in the next couple days so i can attempt some Black slopes come Friday. BOOM!

The general feeling of this place is pretty good, Après Ski is a killer but bucket loads of fun. Last night saw us ended our last slope into Meribar. Boozing quite heavily, enjoying some live music and falling asleep on the bus back to the apartment. Hahha. Oh dear. Much fun though, good times.
I sent out some defenceless texts to my dad and sister too. Felt good to be opened honest with them. I can be quite reserved, as pointed out by a previous friend. I’d thank her, but we don’t talk anymore. Primarily my fault, but that’s another story.

Anyway, got three days of skiing left. I’m not getting shanted over here, ruins the skiing in the morning. Got chocolate and dr pepper to make the evenings more comfortable, as well as a slow YouTube search box.

That’ll do for now. Need a shower ’cause I stink.

Laters.

Oh shit, I’m now being shown pics of the state i was in last night, I’ll get them on my FB in good time haha. Mess.

26 Hours Later

Posted in Blog / Rant on January 22nd, 2011 by Conn

So I have finally made it to France after a near 26 hour trip in a shitty coach. The damn thing had a temperature issue. One minute it was roasting and the next I was shivering like a really shivering thing on a shivering day. Eff Eff Ess.
I’m going to keep this short as I need to kip but the last chunk of my life has been a long one.

So we left Wales at 1530 Friday, stopped at a couple services and got down to Dover a little before midnight. We then proceeded to sit there for about 3 hours waiting for a shitty ferry to take us to Frogland. Grrrrr. I fell asleep for the whole sail across, woke up clumsy and tried to carry on the sleep on the other side.
Woke up at a couple more stops including a shitty French supermarché which was a bit lame. Got a weeks load of food in and then carried on to our destination for the week. Meribel.
This place is supposed to be the skiing resort for those that have the stupid amount of money to afford it. Everything is overpriced and I am refusing to spend what little money I have left, after Canada, on shite here. Minus the obvious requirement to have Wi-Fi for the week at the cost of 30 euros. I had to pay it, best way to speak to peeps at home and write some shizz on here.

That sums up the last day or so in a short moan. I am now really tired and should get the rest in before we throw ourselves down the slopes in the morning. Can’t wait. Woop.

Night y’all.

I’ll skip a pic on this post as it is a bit weak, and I can’t be bothered to play with this French DNS. It is pretty much not allowing me to use the same Wi-Fi account on the iPhone and iPad at the same time. Goon.

Back To Reality

Posted in Blog / Rant on January 19th, 2011 by Conn

Cheers WordPress

So I am now back to work in Wales. The joys of leave have come to an end, just when I could have done with a couple more days. I am not a big fan of extended leave. Gives you too much time to ponder on things, the pace is too slow, you spend more money and still end up bored. This a generally bad mix of things. I wont go on about them too much now but it does suck… a lot.

Work has dropped into its usual repetitive self and it has been really cold in the mornings here. Joy. ‘Tails’ often wakes up in the morning dressed as an ice cube. I’m glad that TESCO de-icer is so cheap. You need a fair amount over this part of the world.

Sorry for not getting much down here, as you can see I have been busy changing things about. I have given up on the self code of the blog and have played about with WordPress. It is the way forward, and as other mates’ blogs have shown, it’s more interesting if you let others get back to you on the topics you are writing about. I have used it before but when I was initially writing the last design, I decided to deliberately dragged out its construction… because I was on tour and used it to keep myself busy. So feel free to comment on these posts I write.

Also feel free to track back and comment on the previous posts, they are all here. So much quicker on this than my old methods. I’ll make some final amendments to the design of the blog in the coming days. Also in the next week or so, I’ll get the Gallery back on. Shouldn’t be too much hassle as the code is already there.

It has been good to catch up with the peeps here. The stories of leave and everyones adventures across the latter part of 20Ten have been fun to listen too. I have been getting many hours of Footy and Basketball in since coming back, and aim to continue after next weeks skiing.

I’m looking to get a better post written down tomorrow night, I am running out of time at the moment. My body is due to shutdown any minute. I also have a big RANT coming up about Police ‘Safety Vehicles’. Hmmm.

So that is it for now, I need to get a couple last minute things eaten and then I am off to the land of nod. I am looking forward to getting tomorrows work out the way, a bit of a run in the afternoon and a bit of packing ready for Friday afternoon’s departure. It looks like it is going to be a very very long coach trip. That could lead to quite a RANT. Seems that there is much to be written down here in the coming 48 hours. Please keep eyes on and I’ll get it sorted.

Goodnight.

Abort…

Posted in Blog / Rant on January 16th, 2011 by Conn

On second thoughts, I’ll abort the Rant. I’d rather come up with the goods and explode in a hardcore Rant than force a mild/weak moan.

I’ll leave you be and get my head down, although the iTunes is throwing up some sick beats tonight. This is good puke.

I’m Alive… Just Busy

Posted in Blog / Rant on January 16th, 2011 by Conn

New Basketball Kicks

So I have a fair bit to blog about, I’ll keep the topics shirt though. I’ll also get a Rant out, maybe afterwards or tomorrow, actually afterwards because I’ll be busy tomorrow trying to find uniform that is clean/dry/fits. lol.

So what has gone on… basically… *takes a breath* …I have had a couple final chilled days in Canada, was a nice way to end the trip. Didn’t really achieve much but was good to try and get the head back into ‘Home’ mode. The trip to Toronto was pretty event free, minus my USB charger not charging my phone. Wasn’t impressed. The flight was pretty sound, got chatty with a stewardess and get a few too many JD’s out of her lol. So I was happy watching the Social Network. Love that film. Makes me want to be more of a geek than I already am.
Landed in Heathrow, Terminal 5. Hire car had no guts whatsoever. New Corsa with a 1.2. Dropped into 3rd to pass a heavy, foot flat down and nothing. Double-you Tee Eff? It did nothing, didn’t even try. So weak. Was glad to see Tails when I got back to Dad’s gaff. She has a new sticker on her bum now, of ‘Tails’. Eff Tea Double-you.

After a quick change, and sort out I picked up the collection of ‘Attempted Delivery’ cards and raced to the post office. Got a couple ‘Simon’s Cat’ teddies. Wooh. They are ace, cock up on the order went in my favour though lol. BOOM. Then picked upEmily and headed to Southampton for a bit of a mooch and a shop. Had to unblock my credit card as they thought someone had nicked it and gone to canada with it. No it was me, but thanks for your concern.
Got me Apple TV ready for when I go back to work. I love it, everyone should have it. I got me some new Basketball kicks, actually I’ll put a pic up here as I have no real idea what to put in the box lol. Got some new tunes to rock in the car, I missed a very good Chemical Brothers album which only made my attention in HMV. The track called “Keep My Composure”. Amazing Skills.

What else? Oh yeah, popped down to see my sis and bro-in-law. It was his birthday on friday so peeps having a beer. So was good to say hi, always a pleasure. All to the sounds of Darren spinning the tunes. Nice.
Then today (technically yesterday as it is 0004) I had my wig chopped as it was mega long and went down to watch Brighton stuff the Posh 3-1. Happy days. Then a doze in the motor on the way back to shake off a bit of the pre-match booze was followed by a nap when I found my bed.

So that wraps up what has happened as of late. I find myself looking forward to going back to Wales tomorrow. Mainly to see some faces, but also knowing I only have a couple days there before I head off to France haha. Woop. Ski-ing!!
That is enough about my boring life, I’ll take a break here and then get a Rant together, I fear it might be a bit weak, but we’ll see.

Back in 5…

A Sled and The Keg

Posted in Blog / Rant on January 10th, 2011 by Conn

Snow GT

So today was a much needed chill after a few days covering miles of open Canada and Skiing until there was TOO much snow. A bit of a lay in found me thinking about things. It only takes a short period of not doing much to allow my mind to wander about. I had a bit of a think about things. A good mixture. My car, sat there on my drive all cold and alone. Friday, the who and the what and the where and the how. This has been the big thought of the week. The one moment that I don’t want to miss or mess. When you wait for something for so long, then get the opportunity, you have to take it. Both arms and legs. The problem is this… You don’t want to throw yourself at it, that’s never smart. That can cause division. The complete opposite to what you want. I just hope that it takes it’s course and works out. I mentioned in a previous post that it feels like being back at school, well it does. The thing is, I’m older now and all seems a little more real some how. I have some ideas as to what I want Friday to be. Chilled, pressure-less, like normal, no change but the thought is now out in the open. It’s tough, I have wanted this for so long and all I want to do now is dive in with arms open wide but it can’t be done like that. For both parties sake. It’s a two player game and they have their own issues to overcome too. I just want things, however they work, to be alright. I can’t think of anything else, except that other atom.

Once again the phone has lost what I just typed, it was about he events on the sled today and a restaurant discovered called The Keg, but I’m not in the mood now…

More Skiing and Dead Server

Posted in Blog / Rant on January 10th, 2011 by Conn

The weather came in...

Doesn’t it annoy you when things don’t do their primary function. For example, if your kettle failed to boil water or the printer finds it a challenge to deliver some photos you wanted to put up. How about your Web Server just vanishing from existence. The hosting provider said their was a network issue. THAT’S YOUR PRIMARY FUNCTION!! I’m paying you to allow this shit to happen. Cockend!!
As you can see it took them all night and this morning we’re back IAW. Thanks. The plan was to get this done last night during a Black Ops session. But I lay in bed at the moment, tapping away on the iPhone. I love my phone, all snug in it’s Angry Birds (Yellow Bird) case. Woop.

So I can charge my iPhone 4 from a Canadian power supply, but if I swap to charging the iPad. Nope. Just says ‘Not Charging’. So it’s not getting enough current? What??!
To add further mystery. I got a USB charging thing. Insert three times double A batteries and plug in a USB charging device and BOOM. Your phone is now charged, so is your other USB loving kak. This includes your iPad. Hooray I can charge it. Yeah… One set of batts gives you ten percent iPad love. Double-you Tee Eff????!!!! How much power does this mother want. I can understand it needs more than 3xAA’s but frick me – 30!? Really? Haha. Oh well. Anybody want to buy an iPad I got one going for £300. FB/Twitter/KIK me.

So yesterday was another ace day skiing. I really got into it and could feel myself improving. I really am looking forward to France in a couple weeks where I can actually be shown things properly. Should be good fun.
So it’s away from the slopes now and back down the southern ways. We had to get off the north edge as the weather was really coming in. Saturday – I took the same photo as the one shown but it was sunny. This pic was yesterday and, you can’t really tell but, the snow was really coming down hard and lots of it. Was a nice drive down though in the afternoon. Smashed a bit of Black Ops on the poor PS3 console.

Slept like a baby last night. Was amazing. Ermmm… Not sure what I’m getting up to today, I’ll let you know later…

Have a nice day Y’all.

Skiing and Starbucks

Posted in Blog / Rant on January 8th, 2011 by Conn

Starbucks, Blue Mountains

I had a look at last night’s blog and realised it was quite tame for me. Usually I get angry at something lol. Must be the positivity of endless snow haha. However, today has been a mix of some very very highs and a couple lows. So I’ll begin.

Football!!! Big news of the day was Brighton kicking the shit out of 10-man Portsmouth in the FA Cup 3rd Round. They can moan about being short of players. The last game I watched saw a ten man Brighton come from behind and hold out for a draw. Different class. So that was a good bit of news.
Other good points included an awesome day skiing. I havn’t been skiing since 2009/2010 New Years in Finland. That was only a couple days, as this will be, but I loved it. Felt good to get back on the slopes. Tomorrow I’ll be stepping it up and getting ready for France in a couple weeks. Woop. Good times and travelling still to come this month alone.
One more positive came from coffee. I am a big fan of Starbucks, I’ve never had a bad brew from there and have had many good memories in Starbucks locations… However, anything is better than Tim Houltons… more on that later. So to get a Starbucks at the foot of the slopes today was amazing. I went there twice throughout the day to make the most of it lol. White Mocha, haven’t had one since Niagara Falls haha. Deal.

So for a bit of Ranting… What the fuck is this Tim Houltons coffee shizz about? For those that do not know. “Timmys” is a coffee shop chain, like Starbucks and Costa, only it is confined to Canada. Tim made a rule, so it is said, that his coffee should never be sold outside of the Canadian Borders… Good. The coffee is fucking shocking. Imagine you have a leaking dishwasher that is half way through a cycle if scrubbing cat turd off your plates. Basically put that leak into a cup and serve warm. Bingo.
It’s wrong. Proper wrong, but they love it out here. It’s the first shop you see on the way into a town and there is one on nearly every intersection. Imagine the frequency of roadside services, Tesco, petrol stations, Police Stations and trees. Well Houltons is all of them added together. It might be easier to get hold of than aids from Freddy M, but I’ll stick with Starbucks thanks.

What else? Oh yeah, we have a much higher level of “Multiculture” back home it seems. The excellence of Portsmouth Language school as part of the university has contributed to that down south. London is a case of spotting the Englishman. Don’t get me wrong, I’m just drawing the eye to how our surroundings are changing and how people decide to live in all different places. It certainly mixes things up a bit. It’s not an issue (mostly :/), I like Thai food anyway. Crack on.
It seems that over this side of the pond it is the same. The number of Chinese people I noticed at Toronto airport sparked my thought. I pushed it aside as I just assumed it was a school trip or something… Wrong. I had a second helping in Toronto, loads of them. But I was eating ThaiExpress and was too busy looking at Canadian gift ideas to think much on it. But now, heading to a Ski resort here today, BOOM, China Town again. Is it because Canada is closer to their home? Hmmm. I can’t say anything, I’m an immigrant at the moment. But I have my return ticket home… ***Withdraws Comment***

I have been drifting in and out a movie, the Da Vinci Code, so I think that I should give it some attention. I like this film, it makes my religious hatred come to life again. Religion is bullshit. I’m more than certain that I’ll rant about this subject at some point. Anyway, after this film I’ll be dreaming about a couple atoms colliding, even if they are delayed…

Night.

Road Trip and Spinach Dip

Posted in Blog / Rant on January 7th, 2011 by Conn

Kelsey's Spinach Dip

So I woke in a really nice way…being Skyped. Good work you.
We picked up a nice new hire car, Nissan Versa??! Fuck knows. Similar size to Tails but shocking build quality haha. Was a pretty nice road trip north, more snow the closer we got. Had to get ourselves checked in to the new home for a couple nights. Big bed a piece, WiFi, Pool and Spa. Not fussed love, I’m here to ski. Headed out for a bit of scoff. Had a Kelseys, same as in Niagara. The four cheese spinach dip is amazing. I want to make it when I get home. Yum yum. Hence the pic lol.

Other than that, we just chilled out in the room. It was quite a drive, we filmed some of it haha. I’m quite tired to be fair. Plus need sleep before we assault the slopes tomorrow. Teach the old man to ski first haha.

Can someone remind me that I need to sort out archiving on this page?… when I get home please. Ta!

Right I’m falling asleep. Got some ‘Streets’ in my ears, seeing them in March with the brother from another mother. Cheers for the tix sis.

Night.
