June to November… Rapid.

Posted in Blog / Rant on November 14th, 2011 by Conn

So the last time you heard from me was in June and I was about to go on a final two week stint in the sticks of New Zealand. Then being the long trip home. The two weeks were as anticipated… cold. But great fun.
The close of my time in NZ was a mixture of emotions. Overall, I was looking forward to getting back to the UK but I was also saddened to leave my newly acquired mates and get back into the work routine back home.
July was soon coming to an end too, the trip home loomed and overnight stops in Darwin, Kuala Lumpur and Dubai were very well received. Some great experiences there. One times pic below…

Kuala Lumpur

Then I was told to go on leave. Happy days. A couple weeks off was very much enjoyed going the places I had intended on going.
My time of working in Wales was drawing very quickly to a close. A couple weeks back in work before another couple off again (hard life) followed. September was upon us. The summer didn’t really hold too much to report, just the usual doings. However, my two weeks off after the end of the 3 and a half years living in Wales, was ace. The highlight had to have been the long drive to visit friends over in Germany. 545-ish miles to their place. First time I took Tails to the Collapsing Euro-Zone and other than some shit roadworks around Antwerp and Eindhoven, it wash’t too bad of a drive.
Germany…

It was great to see Steve, Vic and little Poppy. 4 days was not long enough but had an awesome time and great catchup. Thanks guys!! ^_^

Oh here is my first run through the Hindhead Tunnel in Tails…

Tails in the Hindhead

Just so I can get this rapid update out of the way… i have moved to Cheltenham. Getting stuck into the routine here and enjoying it overall. Couple hiccups but generally pretty damn good.

That is a rapid rapid rapid version of events. I’ll add bits and bobs to it a bit later. I need to get on elsewhere for now.

Aaaand do not panic. The rants are lining up nicely.

Ciao for now.

Guess who is back…

Posted in Blog / Rant on November 13th, 2011 by Conn

Hello World!

Yes I am here. After quite the amusing conversation (With Dani B) and a rekindle of appreciation for my rants and other nonsense that occurs here, I have decided to get back on track. The new year is fast approaching and I realised that I have not been on since JUNE!! Fucking terrible behaviour Conner!

I have much to catch up on and have some serious Rants lined up. Quite a few to be fair.
Also a lot of cool stuff to share, including some side projects that I am taking part in. See links on the right for a bit of an insight. (oooh rhyming)
So much has gone on and will you will be fast-tracked to today with the latest of ConnerShizzle. For now I have another date with M0d3rn W4rf4r3 Three.

Feels good to be here, I hope you will be back soon to get swamped with goodies.

Peace Out.

Goodbye June

Posted in Blog / Rant on June 29th, 2011 by Conn

Hello Blog, been a while. No real excuse for the lack of interaction of recent weeks. I’ve just been keeping busy. I can’t actually remember when I last wrote on your face. Hmmm… *Reads last post* …oh yeah.

So what has ben going on? Well a fair bit to be honest. I won’t go into too much detail because it will only bore you for the most of it. The weekend spent in Palmerston North was nothing special and lived up to the description given to us by the boss… ‘I wouldn’t go there to commit suicide’. Nice. Most shit towns of the UK know that they are shit and they just get on with it. ‘Palmy’ locals believe that it the place to be and a nice area to live. Bollocks. Stop kidding yourself, it is a dive at best. Even the airport was baggage. Avoid at all costs if you are doing a circuit of the North Island. A few days amongst the work placement that week was pretty good and we ditched for a couple days exploring the area. Lake Taupo was pretty pretty and offered a very welcoming backpackers spot called Urban Retreat. Brits running the show and Beer Pong in the evening was very amusing. Thanks for a good stay guys and girls.
The last day of work on the North Island caught us doing a little physical training on a nearby beach. In the pouring rain. It was actually pretty good, although it did trash our kit. Of which we could not wash/dry until we got back to the South Island some 2 days later. A typical week in work followed our return to the Christchurch area, although it was happily cut in half.
Thursday morning was exciting… we were off to Sydney. 4 nights in Sydney was an awesome choice for a weekend. Acting like tourist during the day and getting stuck into the night life was the makings of a relatively expensive however very enjoyable long weekend. 4 days is not enough time to take all of Sydney in. We did manage to see the more obvious/essential places though. The Opera House is considerably smaller that what I had imagined, the Harbour Bridge is bigger than what I thought and Bondi Beach was just as I imagined it. The busy city centre was very much like a more open version of London. Parks scattered throughout, a busy CBD and all the big name shops you can think of. Plenty of museums and visually pleasing buildings to admire if that is your thing. There is obviously a serious amount of money in that city. Bentleys, Lambos, Ferraris and many others lined the streets by night. Shining away in all their glory. A fair few pics were taken, I’ll get them uploaded when I get the chance. I did take my NIkon with me, but didn’t use it. I really should have done. Never mind. The iPhone did an adequate job.
Without abusing the Kiwi’s too much…

The best part of New Zealand is Sydney. Hahaha. ^_^

The return to New Zealand was interesting. We were pulled to one side by the immigrations team at Christchurch Airport and quizzed for our reasons for being there. “The reason for your visit sir?” “Working over here mate” *Shows clever pieces of paper* ” Oh right I see, enjoy the rest of your time here sir” “Get out of here, mug”.
Maybe the UK could learn a bit about *withdraws comment* ??!
Since our return from Sydney, everything has been a massive anticlimax. A very heavy earthquake shook the water out some pipes at work. That was amusing as I was typing away one afternoon whilst the desk was moving about. Hahaha good times. Although my thoughts do go out to those that live in and around Christchurch. They are some seriously strong people to keep going though all of this, could you imagine people back in the UK dealing with this? We can’t handle a little snow… hmmmm…

Anyway, tomorrow is the last day of June I think. Which means that I’ll be home in less than a month. Oh yeah, we got extended again. Found out the day I left Sydney, to be honest I’ve given up caring anymore. As long as I get a few weeks off in August, I’m happy.

The plans for Summer have already begun it seems, it is nice to see that some people have not forgotten about me over here. I’ve lined up a wedding, some BBQs, a couple nights out, a visit from a good mate who moved to the States that I haven’t seen in years. Things are coming together. I’ve got a long drive to Germany at some point too, got a couple closest mates moving over there. Need to check up on them. Hopefully the missus will be game for a bit of a road trip, failing that… I’ll take Tails to the Autobahn and see how she gets on. ^_^ Vrooom!!
I’m very much looking forward to the summer this year. I usually don’t enjoy having time off. After 3 or 4 days I just want to get back to work and I get myself worked up about it. This time I’m hoping things will be different. I’ll need some peoples to give me the heads up when they are about and I’ll be running up the miles in Tails. Current destinations lined up other than Germany are: Hereford, Haverfordwest (on a social trip, not work), Devizes, Cheltenham, Portsmouth, London and Brighton (obviously). Talking of Brighton, I should be able to put the season ticket to good use and be able to make the first league game in the new stadium. Very exciting times for the Seagulls. New training ground in the pipeline too. Come on the Albion!!! ^_^

So that is the latest. I’m away again for 2 weeks from Monday. 2 weeks in the cold and wet again, hopefully It’ll be a bit more proactive for myself this time. If it is not then I’ll make it so.

I’ll be back for a final round up of New Zealand in a few weeks probably, just before I leave. Then the long flight back via Subang, Dubai and Crete ;) FTW.

Take care peeps. Facebook/Tweet me up with some August plans please. Ta.

Music Selection, Clocks and a Guilty Pleasure

Posted in Blog / Rant on June 9th, 2011 by Conn

I think this is quite an important topic to look at. I am have quite a wide taste in music and I’ll pick songs to listen to that either reflect my mood or relate to what I’m doing.
Currently I’m feeling quite chilled and I’m chatting to the missus. It would be inappropriate to crank up some Five Finger Death Punch or something along those lines. So I’m currently listening to a little playlist that I made up whilst looking at her Ping profile earlier. I’ve got 9 of the 10 tracks she had selected and they all see pretty relevant to my mood at the moment.
So what is on this playlist…

I Miss You – Blink 182Set The Fire To The Third Bar – Snow PatrolI Remember – Deadmau5Misguided Ghosts – ParamoreGood Riddance (Time Of Your Life) – Green DayLittle Lion Man – Mumford & SonsYour Song – Ellie GouldingIslands – The XxFirework – Katy Perry

Most of these tracks have got their own little meanings or have lyrics that I have related to at different times.
The Bink 182 track is my girls favourite song, Snow Patrol has a fair few personal memories and thoughts throughout a few of their tracks but the lyrics in this track are very appropriate to the amount of travelling I do. Anything by Deadmau5 is a win, but this is one of his masterpieces for sure. Misguided Ghosts… the lyrics… enough said. Good Riddance is a nostalgic track for me, reminds me of when I was a fair bit younger and has ben played in my car on certain occasions that I remember quite well. Always a good track.
I’ve been getting really into Ellie Goulding over the last year or so, Mumford & Sons is a winner and the Xx need so much more appreciation for their music. Firework doesn’t have any meaning to me but Katy Perry does. There was a certain weekend festival in 2009, it was a good couple days.

If a couple of my close friends looked at that list they’d think that i made it, nope wasn’t me. Good choice babe. I like your style.

So it is coming to the end of Thursday the Ninth of June Two Thousand and Eleven. That means that when I wake up in the morning, I’ll be back home in 40 days. Woop. That is a pretty good, and nicely round figure. For those that spend long periods of time away, or those that get left behind when their partners disappear for a while, you’ll know what I mean. I’m at the stage where I’m counting down everything I can count down. How many weekends? How many sleeps? How many shifts? It is a good thing, as it convinces your mind that what ever you our counting yourself away from, will come to an end. However, it is a bad thing.. Mr clock has his his wicked ways and decides that the second hand has a lower gear ratio and has also decided to dip the clutch and let it coast down to a crawling pace. Hurry Up! I’ve got people to see and things to get on with.

So that is two out of the three title topics covered. Now this one is a minefield for comments to be fired back at me by people questioning my masculinity.
Glee. A guilty pleasure that I have got quite into since my trip away last year. When you spend so much time with your laptop, you eventually reach a point where you have watched everything you own twice and have to scrounge around for something to help preserve some level of sanity.
I happened to find the first half of the first season of the aforementioned american pop bullshit. At first I wanted to through up as I couldn’t consume any more cheese but… I caught myself on Google earlier trying to find out when the second half of the second season is coming out, because I’ve seen it all up to that part. What the??!?!!
I watch 5 episodes on the bounce the other night and I was getting caught up in it, big style. Not every episode is good but they never fail to make me want to watch the next one. It’s all pretty well done to be fair.
Enough of that cheese, a highly contributing factor to this is this… chicks dig it. A good mate from work helped me out at the start of the year by providing me the viewing of the second half of the first season around her gaff. Instant win with the missus too as I think she gets pretty into it. Well the fact that she sets her Sky to record it gives it away, and I can very easily imagine her sat on the sofa singing along to all the tracks that she knows and then crying when things get a little emotional. ^_^
The winner factor for me though is… ***does a quick check on Wiki***

Dianna Agron – Quinn
Heather Morris – Britney
Naya Rivera – Santana

Now is this the fact that they are on the TV, they’re playing roles as cheer leaders or is it the fact that…
Dianna (Quinn) dyed her hair red for some celeb bash and instantly raised her game or was it a photoshop effort… either way… Yum, Heather (Britney) did a couple tracks on the show and was proper dressed up and looking dead tasty and Naya (Santana) looks like she wouldn’t hold back and plays a character to match. Plus they are all pretty much my age in the real world… so now I don’t have to feel guilty when I watch it. Thanks Wiki.
Suddenly Glee is mildly acceptable, and even if you can’t stand the worst part about it, the American High School Concept… you can always stick it on mute.
Oh and the red headed teacher, Emma, she’s cute and she was in Heroes. An excuse to watch that series again. BOOM. lol.
Anyway that is enough about that. It is bad enough that the website is framed in purple. Cheers mum. ^_^

So that is me for now. It is a school night and all that.
Night Night.

Wellington Weekend

Posted in Blog / Rant on June 5th, 2011 by Conn
Wellington

Wellington

You know you are onto a winner when your job provides you with flights and a hire car for a long weekend. 90 mins at 100KPH sees us rolling into Wellington and the night out begins after a fast check-in with the Ibis Hotel. Posh gaff for two blokes walking in wearing jeans, hoodies and in my case ‘Kicks’.

But first I’ll track back a little… about 12 hours.

‘MAC!’
‘Go away’
‘We need to send that email and get to the transport in half hour’
‘Fuck sakes’

We bimble into work and pull our admin out our arse and crack on with last minute rushing about before we get picked up. Still moaning about that fact that we have to go in the first place.
Christchurch Airport is still as unsatisfying as last time, free wifi though. BOOM! We are back in the game.
Prop-plane drags itself up to the North Island in just over an hour.
Hire car collection is painless and the motor is definitely not ‘blue’ as she said. I’d go for an almost grey attempt that is drizzled over the Corolla.
Grab scoff and head down Highway 1 towards our first accommodation in Lower Hutt. It is booked, paid for and sorted.
Checked in, utilised free wifi and got down to the town centre. Walked around for half hour trying to find some decent food. Walked back to accommodation and checked out. For anyone that reads this… Lower Hutt is a poorly designed pile of concrete filled turd. Avoid.
20 mins in the Corolla gets us into the heart of Wellington. The Ibis is sparkly and offers a pretty sweet room to get changed in and launch us into a night out.

After avoiding the advances of pills from a ‘couple’ which we had assessed to be looking for a 4way, we popped smoke and fast tracked our way into beers elsewhere. A 20 min hunt for a Kebab shop was frustrating. The thought that I was more hardcore than the guy making my kebab was a mistake.

‘Just add some more chillies bruv’
‘You have twice the amount that we normally serve on a hot one’
‘Just add the fucking chillies mate it’s all good.

It was fine whilst I was hoovering it up, then a misplaced lip movement dragged 3 phatt fire-truck red chillies across my face.

‘SHIT IT’

Yum

Yum

Local CCTV would have been watching a relatively sober Neil launching chillies at pace away from his early morning meal. I haven’t hit the booze much at all in the past couple weeks. Yeah I had a few that night, but no Hangover and a serious Starbucks craving led the way for a good Saturday.
A shift from the Ibis to Trinity Hotel for the second night was depressing. Rooms booked up and our new accommodation was pretty shocking and the Tele didn’t work. I don’t think that they liked us as we got sent to the room with the hole in the ceiling outside the door. Probably from a leak… yeah thanks. Fail.

Westpac Stadium

Westpac Stadium

A decent pub was found on the way to the Stadium in the late afternoon. A day walking around pretty much the whole of Wellington and a drive around the surrounding area was finished with Bangers and Mash and Onion Gravy. Small victories and all that. 20 minutes later and we are sat in the Westpac Stadium watching the Hurricanes beat the Lions.
I’d never previously been to a rugby game, but have plenty of experience in live football. The difference is unreal, in regards to the crowd and atmosphere. The ground wasn’t very full to be honest and there was a slight drizzle in the air, but that was quiet in there. And is there a need to play a little Hurricanes Melody after a couple points are kicked every single time? The cheerleaders are not as good at the ones at Brighton BTW.

A couple beers in an Irish bar and some live music caused no dramas for the liver. We are off to Palmerston North in the morning… I’m driving.

We tried to spend as much time in Wellington, making most of a relatively decent city. The drive North was uneventful. New Zealand is boring. Unless you live in Wellington or Auckland, you are just wasting your time. People often say things like ‘When I retire, I’m moving to New Zealand or Australia’ Naahhh you are alright mate, I’d rather poke myself in the eye with my other eye. It is acceptable as a short break holiday destination at best, and only in one of the two aforementioned cities.

Palmerston North is our home for Sun/Mon before our week of work up this part of the country. It offers very little. Although the Thai food I had yesterday was pretty tasty. A chilled Queens Birthday Monday is time to chill, prep for the week and pick up a couple things from town.
I’ve got 4 hours of internet left to use so that will be well spent.

I’ll chat soon, hopefully.

Go With It

Posted in Blog / Rant on May 31st, 2011 by Conn

I’m In a mood to write but I have no topic of interest to script on. Hmmm. I will just type away until something makes sense.

Ellie Goulding. I think I am actually falling in love with her. I cannot stop playing her music at the moment. ‘The Writer’ is an amazing track, along with a few others that are just unreal. I don’t know what I like about her sound so much, it might be her voice, the varied types of track that she throws down maybe. I really need to see her live this summer. I’ll be scanning the gig sites over July and August to make sure I can get some tickets quick time.

Football. So I dragged myself out of bed at 0600 on Sunday to get to one of the lads gaffs to watch the Champions League final. It had to be done, there is a serious lack of football in this country. I know that they are very rugby-orientated. I have missed regular exposure to the better game, shame that UTD couldn’t do the business over the Spanish. Oh well, in a couple months I’ll be watching the mighty Brighton in their new home of Falmer. Season ticket payments are dribbling out of the account and I cannot wait to get stuck into next season. It is a bit of a way off, it being the day before June. It is also going to feel even longer as there is no football this summer. I’ll have to play it more I think, to keep the dreams alive.

Championship Manager. It has surfaced again. I managed to get Brighton to the Premiership in two seasons and collected an FA Cup and a Community Shield in the process. Then the game wouldn’t advance further and crashed mid-october everytime I tried to play it. So I started a new season and have just got myself tucked into mid-table of the Championship. No silverware yet though.

New Zealand. I am bored of talking about it to be honest. It is nothing special. I wouldn’t live here permanently, unless I was in the middle of Auckland. However, I am off to the North Island again this weekend. A long weekend to be spent between Palmerston North and Wellington. On Saturday afternoon/evening we are off to watch the Hurricanes play the Lions in the Westpac Stadium. That should mix things up a bit ^_^ good times. Then we are working local for the week and heading back South just after next weekend. Tidy.

Cha-ching. I’ve just remembered that I have got paid today, which included a bit of back pay from expenses that I missed out on in early months of this trip. So this bumper pay slip will land me a Macbook Air when I get back and the remainder goes into the pot for the eventual house I get.

Buying a house. Something that I ideally would like to land before the end of the year, but I think it is going to be a 2012 venture. I do and I do not want to do it. It will be dead smart to have my own gaff but it is such a responsibility. The Apple product collection will have to come to a close. The car is going to be on it’s best behaviour and last for at least 5 odd years.

Tails. I unconditionally miss my car. She is tucked away in a garage in Wales. She hasn’t been cleaned or even touched since mid March. She will be receiving some much needed attention the first day that I have free. A complete dig out inside, outside and engine is the first task. Then the rims are coming off for a deep clean and some detailed adjustments to the brake callipers. I have ordered a couple little things for her whilst I have been looking through eBay, so they will have to be added. I also need to get her in for a service. I want my car!!

Summer. I am really looking forward to the summer this year. I have many miles to cover in the motor and I cannot wait to get started. The second week that I am back in the country I am off to a wedding, so that kicks things off. I have a lot of people to catch up with all over and a girl that needs some attention. I’ve been trying to think of how I am going to cram all my ideas into my time off. I want to get the camera out for a coupe things. I am looking at a couple festivals if the dates don’t conflict with work. I have Brighton games to get to. All whilst not getting down.
I have a bad habit of getting pretty depressed when I am on leave. I hate having nothing to do, so my plan is to keep busy for pretty much ever single second that I am about. Even if it means driving a couple hundred miles to make a weekend more bearable. It will happen. I am fed up of sitting at home and staring at the laptop screen in hope that something will pop up and request my presence at some event or meet. Not doing it this year. Going to max it up to the maximum max.

Re-org. I need to have a big overhaul of my possessions when I get home too. I need to have a big clear out of all the gash I have accumulated over the past year or so. I need the space. I also need to start moving stuff home in ready for my transfer later this year. I also need to have a clothes sort out, I’ve ordered a good wardrobe for the next few months I think. Can’t wait to get back and open it all. I’ve got to get my head into my work stuff too. I need to get rid of a huge amount of kit I have no need for anymore. Which also means that I need to get a few new things too. I have to have a think on what is required for the next couple years and start to prep things. It will save panicking nearer the time I guess.

Debt collection. I am owed so much money from different people. I should really start chasing it up. I think at the last count, I was owed a little over a grand. It would be nice to get some of that back maybe. I’ve become debt free again anyway, so at least I can chuck that monies towards the potential gaff. Some peeps that owe me are not much a problem, it is on good terms. There are a couple that have taken the moral high ground and have delayed repayment for 2-5 years. Not really acceptable anymore. Come on guys, you are taking the piss a little. It is not that much and it is not that difficult.

Health. The occasional drink seems to be doing good things to me. I have pretty much stopped the boozing since my episode a couple weeks back. I’ll have the social drink or 2 on occasion, but I have not been drunk since. I have even been on a couple nights out and not drunk at all, yet you still would have found me on the dance floor. I like driving so much that I would rather ferry the lads around than get mashed off my face and spunk a couple hundred quid on one night out. I’ve saved a good bit of cash by not getting on it and i feel better for it too. Regular gym sessions and the like have proven to have a recommended outcome. I feel better, faster and more alert. That and the high number of hours I have been sleeping recently. I think my body is catching up on 2 months of binging and late nights. Not a bad thing I guess. I’ll carry on with this me thinks, plus I’ll not want to leave Tails behind when I head to town. More excuses to get behind the wheel.

Car maintenance. I know that I have mentioned it previously, but people do not look after their cars very well over here. If you can imagine a typical 10 minute drive you might make upon the British roads, for example, to Tesco. You see a very high number of relatively new cars, in a generally acceptable condition. You will see a couple motors that need to be sunk and a couple that deserve to be locked in a bomb proof garage for safekeeping. It is not the case in NZ. Yes there are the occasional tasty looking motor that has been kept to a high standard. However, the general rule of thumb when observing cars on the roads over here is this: it will probably have a dent in it somewhere, it will probably be no newer that 5 years old and will be in the dullest of conditions that you would think that the last earthquake shook the shit out of it. It is rare to find a car that is in a good or higher standard. I know that I am particular about my car and do clean it very often, but the cars over here are just left to rot it seems. Even those that appear to be spending time, outside of driving, with their cars. They tend not to do a very good job of doing whatever they think they are doing. It just doesn’t sit with me well.

Overseas data charges. This is something that has to be addressed and soon. I cannot use more than 50 Megs over seas, before O2 decide that I have spent enough money. Yes I can see the protective measures that are provided with this function, but I have a better idea. How about you just lower the cost of data overseas? It makes no difference to you if I connect on 3G in the UK or NZ really. Like really really. Since the WIFI in my accommodation has vanished, I have occasionally swiped myself into a couple roaming data sessions. I just want to be able to speak to a couple peoples and check my emails etc. Suddenly I land myself a monumental phone bill. Cheers. Long live free mobile data within the UK on iPhone.

Steam being lost. It appears that I am slowing down, plus I am really getting into this documentary about the Bismarck. 8x 15 inch guns. I want. ^_^
Good night peoples.

Hummell Jacket

Hummell Jacket

So, I got the WordPress app on the iPhone. Just generally playing about with it. Needed a pic, so this one is of a jacket I ordered the other day.

Ermmm yeah. Not much going on the last few days. Well there has been shed loads of stories to tell from the 4 day weekend I’ve just had, but I can’t be bothered to write them just now.

Night.

Just got to add a couple lines of text…

The post is too short, so the image overlaps onto the next post. Cheers WorPress.

That should do it…

Turning Things Around

Posted in Blog / Rant on May 16th, 2011 by Conn

That is fucking it. I am not doing these stupid things anymore. The things that I keep telling myself that I’ll ‘stop next time’ or start doing what I should have started a while back. Things like booze. After my last post, I went out and got monumentally fucked. I haven’t been that bad for a few years now, even during trips yo Queenstown and Auckland. I am one of those annoying people that can remember 100% of a boozy night out. Not the other night. I am not proud of the antics that the lads and I got up to. I was in a ridiculous state. NOT doing that again. Damn Alex being the master of shots. Plus I got a bit of a telling off and some words of advice from the young sister. Noted and will be acted upon.
Things that I am going to start doing more? The damn Gym. Need to stop putting it off. Need to get back into shape. Plus it’s a good reason to stop the booze. Getting that sorted.

Not much really going on here. Oh I was in a bit of a quake the other day. Was a 5.3 or something. Was awesome!! Actually could feel the room bend. MEGA!
Ermmm. That’s about it really. What is coming up?
Might get a chance to take a couple days off, so I think me and Mac are going to look into going over to Sydney. Might as well if we can. I doubt I’ll come back to this part of the world so going to have a look into flights and stuff this week. Tidy.

Oh just thought of something that I also need to start doing again. Using my flamin’ camera. I have a £400 camera sat in my drawer and I have barely used it. Turn that around. Snap Snap.

I’ve been writing a letter this evening. It is quite a big deal. I hope that it does some good. I have a couple emails to write after this too, time to catch up with some peoples after my short disappearance over the last couple weeks. Something else that I will be turning around. Feels good. I just hope my head allows me to do it. I don’t want to slip back to Dec/Jan. Got to stay up. 2 months to go as of tomorrow, then it is back to reality.

Right lets get this sorted.

Are you serious? I mean, really??

Posted in Blog / Rant on May 14th, 2011 by Conn

For those of you that know what I am like when I ‘usually go away’. I don’t mind staying there longer, in fact I am usually the first person to ask to extended… even a month or more extra. But not out here. It wouldn’t be too bad if I HADN’T ALREADY PUT MY DEPOSIT DOWN FOR 2 WEEKS IN AMERICA. Arrgghhhh!!
It might be only a couple hundred quid but that is besides the point. Having another trip under my belt and the opportunity to earn a couple more qualifications looks good overall. An extra 2 weeks out here doesn’t mean shit. You are literally wasting my time. I’ve got a missus to get back to… My girl is currently trying to calm me down, bless. I do wonder why she puts up with me lol. My last 2 ‘extensions overseas’ were my doing and this time I had promised her that I wouldn’t do it again. I know it is not my fault but it doesn’t look good does it. FFS!!!

Oh and to slam the door in my face, I’ve just worked out that it is longer than 2 weeks.. it’s 19 days. :@ Breathe Conner.

My typical remedy in these sorts of situations isn’t helping like it usually does. Maybe because my bottle of Dr Pepper is flat. Arrgghhh it’s all going wrong. hahah. Actually made myself LOL. Freak!!

Ok. A 5 minute interlude and a bit of a chuckle has taken me off the boil. I was planning to have a couple cheeky beers with the lads tonight, nothing heavy like but I don’t think I am in the mood now. I think instead… I am going to get completely wasted. Stand by for a seriously broken and wobbly Connman. Plus one of the lads had just got me a couple slabs of beer as payment for an incident that happened whilst we were all away. Boy done good.

I will post some constructive material the moro. I need to calm down before I get on it.

I am here. Although I shouldn’t be really. I’ve been working out somewhere ‘remote’ without access to the web. I shouldn’t be online for a few days yet, but a fast ball back to my bed came up and here I am. Plus I have not had the ingredients to write something. I don’t mean that I have nothing to write… anyone can write about what they get up to. It’s just the lack of movement on my part. I could have happily written a fair few posts between my last entry and this trip that I’m engaged in at the moment, but I just didn’t want to overall.

So things are pretty good, I have some things that I want to say but I haven’t drunk enough just yet. For those that have seen me on it before, I cannot handle vodka. I can happily drink away for hours and generally be good on my feet and have a blinding night. Vodka on the other hand… Destroys me. This is what I am pouring into my throat right now. However I am in a pretty average mood so I hope for a better outcome to what usually happens. I think it comes down to a vodka related incident I was a participant of back in about 2007-8 ish. I decided, in a relatively pissed off mood, to get myself a 1.5 bottle of vodka. How cool was I? NOT! Feeling pretty down and under the theory that if I drink a mouthful of it followed by a mouthful of Dr Pepper, I’d have been alright. Nah. I got lost as to what one I was supposed to take next and ended up drinking the entire bottle near neat. Seconds later… it all came back up. I got mega depressed and looked like a fucking mess.
A recent event, a few weeks before I came out out to NZ saw me a little down. Again I decided, even though I knew it didn’t agree with me, that Vodka was the choice option for that evening. I had made the ratio very much in favour of the Vodka and then lost the only hand of the drinking game that I participated in. Skull it. Within a couple minutes I had realised what was coming, not just the contents of my stomach all over Dani and Tino’s gaff, but the emotional explosion that follows it. I broke down to a complete state. I have only been that bad once before and thankfully my sister walked the streets to find me late at night to sort me out. This time I let everything out to Dani, sat on the side of her bath ripping myself to shreds, along with her hand as I held it. Tino has one of the very best women a bloke could ask for, you are very lucky mate.
So I am sat here, drinking a crate of these Vodka mix cans I acquired off one of the boys. Blogging (obviously) and listening to the Streets. I have really got back into this after seeing Mike and Co in March. The new album is a win, shame it is the last.

Music. Something which varies in my ears. My taste in melodies is extremely vast. However, my current style is shifting again. I have had the last few months drenched in female vocals and sexy sounding bass lines from the likes of Deadmau5 and Skream. Things are on the slide at the moment. Skream is still rocking within my primary playlist but now it is alongside a good mix of… clears throat… Five Finger Death Punch, Streets, Anjunadeep, Chase & Status, Chemical Brothers, Slipknot, The Slew, Rise Against, Mumford & Sons, Metallica, Foals and Scratch Perverts. I know a few of them are quite commonly heard if you are in ‘Tails’ or if you walk past my room but overall, the shift is a lot heavier than usual. I wonder if that is the guys-I-am-working-with-in-Kiwi-land’s influence? Maybe. Or is it my general thoughts at the moment? I am a believer that you chose music subconsciously depending on how you feel at the time. If you are in a good mood.. the beats and singalong tracks pop up. Then when you are feeling down… suddenly you are listening to a much slower and calmer track that could be mistaken for depressing.

Preparation. I know I have about 45-50 days left to enjoy the delights of New Zealand but I have already started planning little things. Things that I want to do, people I want to see and generally stuff to be getting on with whilst I get stuck into my summer. Should be pretty good if I can get on with it all.

BOOZY! My typing skills are still pretty good right now. I’m pretty pleased with myself. Got the girl on the phone, she’s just mentioned a wedding we went to a couple years back. The second mention of weddings this evening lol. I’ll admit that the first mention was by me… The fact that she is a fan of Amaretto now. Ideal woman… DING DING DING lol.
Anyway, it appears that the booze is putting its stamp on the content. Must concentrate more, but all I can here is ‘The Way of the Dodo’ haha. Tune.

So I took a break in proceedings, got distracted by my phone playing up. I’m back again.

Not to sure what I was on about or where I was going so I’ll leave it be. I had some things to say, but as mentioned previously ‘I haven’t drunk enough just yet’.

I might re-appear later after a few more cans.
